There was once a little girl, seeking fairy tales & a princess like life. But the Universe had other plans.
As years went by, she battled the hurt, the pain & the suffering that the Universe sent her way. The fairy tales were nowhere to be found.
One day, in a seething daze, she asked the Universe: "What kind of life is this? Am I to know just hurt & pain? You have turned me inside out & upside down. Tears & torment & a misfit at large. That's all? I am a girl and all around me, I see all these girls with diamonds on their fingers, living fairy tale & princess like lives, very protected & loved. And here I am, scarred & wrecked, abandoned & cut open, as if I am not a girl at all. I guess it's not my destiny to be that special to have any kind of fairy tales ever. Right?"
She sighed & went onto read a book called: The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche. A couple of hours later, she sat for her daily meditation practice. Like a frightened & angry child calmed by her mother, meditation calmed her frenzied mind. She sat & let the thoughts pass by without a reaction, breathing in & breathing out.
Somewhere down the line, her consciousness connected with the cosmic intelligence & the Universe responded to her: "I know you have been through hell. I was there with you, every step of the way, holding your hand. Ever since, you were a little girl, you looked out for fairy tales but that wasn't your destiny. I don't know why your kind has this obsession with diamonds but since you do, I will speak to you in your language.
You have a diamond's destiny & more. A diamond's destiny is to be a diamond. You will have a diamond on your finger when its your time but you didn't come on this planet just to wear a sparkling diamond. You came on this planet to be a diamond. And that is why you are walking with a battered core & a shattered soul. Soon enough, you will find a way to turn your pain to diamonds.
The pain & suffering is my way of turning you into a diamond. So do not fear. I am here."
As the hour was up & she wrapped up her meditation practice, she felt as if she was waking up from a dream but couldn't remember what the dream was.
An hour later, feeling peaceful, she opened her meditation journal & began to write about her experience. She began by writing how peaceful & transformed she felt as if she had experienced some kind of ground breaking revelation. She felt happy & calm. And as she thanked the Universe, it poured out of her, onto the paper: A Diamond's Destiny.
